2 Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 18 in Lucerne Valley
Lucerne Valley, California – The two people who died in a fiery traffic collision on Highway 18 last Friday in Lucerne Valley have been identified by the authorities.
Albert Arroyo, 37, of Nuevo and Margarita Arellano, 67, of Lucerne Valley, died after the accident that occurred west of Custer Avenue just before 6:45 a.m. July 3.
According to a CHP report, Arroyo was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound on the highway when he went across the centerline.
The Altima was in the path of an oncoming Mazda CX-5 operated by a 69-year-old man from Lucerne Valley.
Both drivers drifted to the shoulder of the roadway to avoid each other but ended up colliding head-on.
Arroyo and a passenger in the Mazda, identified as Arellano, were killed in the crash.
The Mazda driver sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.
Arroyo’s three passengers suffered moderate injuries and were all taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The CHP is handling the investigation.

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.
While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
