Motorcyclist Killed in Lakeland Village Crash on Grand Avenue Identified
Lakeland Village, California – Timothy Collins, of Lakeland Village, was the motorcyclist who died after colliding with a car Tuesday on 15996 Grand Avenue in Lakeland Village, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau reported.
The crash scene is at the Lake Country Plaza Shopping Center and about 100 feet south of Ethlene Drive
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened when Collins was northbound on Grand on his Suzuki motorcycle at about 45 mph and a Toyota Camry pulled out of Lake Country Plaza Shopping Center directly into his path at around 4:13 p.m.
The driver of the Camry was attempting to cross the road over to Weekend Paradise RV Park on the west side of the street.
Collins had the right of way.
Authorities said the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and broadsided the right side of the Camry. He was ejected from the motorcycle.
Collins was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:33 p.m. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
CHP said the driver of the Camry, a 67-year-old Lakeland Village man, was not injured. He stopped and cooperated with authorities. He was not arrested but officers said he may face charges when the investigation is concluded.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.
