Father, Son who Beat Up and Stabbed 12-year-old Arrested

A father who grabbed and beat up a 12-year-old boy and then assisted his 12-year-old son to attack and stab the victim turned himself to the police after being on the run for two days.

The incident took place on June 10 when the police officers in Mill Creek received a report of a stabbing at the Heatherwood Apartments at around 11:22 p.m.

The 12-year-old victim sustained injuries in the bicep, wrist, and finger after being stabbed by the 12-year-old suspect during the altercation.

The father, 43-year-old Martinez D. Mitchell, immediately fled the scene of the incident, leaving his 12-year-old son behind.

Mitchell’s son was arrested for assault in the first degree and booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in Everett.

Mitchell turned himself into the authorities on June 12 and was charged with assault of a child in the first degree.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was receiving treatment at the Harborview Medical Center.

The motive for the attack was still under investigation.
