Escondido, California – A girl died after being struck by a vehicle in Escondido on Saturday morning.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 12:36 a.m. June 6, on Mesa Rock Road near Mesa Ranch Drive.
A 17-year-old girl and her three friends were crossing the road when she was hit by a vehicle that was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.
The unidentified girl was rushed to the hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.
The vehicle did not stop at the scene and was yet to be located.
The vehicle was described as a white 2008 – 2012 model year range second-generation Toyota Highlander, possibly with damage to the right front headlight area.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
