NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Daughter Arrested during George Floyd Protest
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s daughter, Chiara, was among 345 protesters who were arrested Saturday night at a George Floyd protest.
Chiara de Blasio was at a protest in downtown Manhattan.
According to the police, Chiara, who is black, was arrested at around 10:30 p.m. for unlawful assembly.
The 25-year-old was among about 100 people who had refused to leave the roadway after the police asked them. She was issued a desk appearance ticket.
The demonstration that Chiara attended was among several around the US over the fatal arrest of a black man, George Floyd.
As many other cities imposed curfews in response to protests, Bill de Blasio said that New York did not need one.
At a news conference Monday, Mayor de Blasio stated that he trusted his daughter’s sentiments that she was protesting Saturday peacefully before she was arrested.
