21-year-old Killed as Detroit Police Brutality Protests Turn Violent
A 21-year-old man was shot and killed amid Detroit protests late Friday.
According to the city’s police department, an unknown person fired shots into a vehicle during demonstrations over the brutal killing of George Floyd by police.
The suspect was alleged to have approached a silver Dodge Caliber, which was occupied by the 21-year-old and two other males, roughly 11:30 pm Friday. The suspect then fired shots into the vehicle and prompted all the three men to flee.
As they ran from the vehicle, the suspect fired more shots and ended up killing one of the three men, a driver from East point.
The suspect then escaped the scene on foot after the deadly event.
The victim, who had not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There was no officer involved in the shooting, and an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
