At least 97 people were killed after a passenger plane crashed into a residential area in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi on Friday.
Two people survived the crash and were being treated at the hospitals in Karachi
The country’s health ministry said the Airbus A320 belonging to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was approaching the airport when it crashed. The plane was carrying 91 passengers from the eastern city of Lahore.
“Our plane [an Airbus] A320 which was coming from Lahore to Karachi was on final approach,” PIA said in a statement.
The authorities confirmed that 97 people on board were killed in the crash. 66 bodies are being kept at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. As per the statement, 19 bodies have since been identified.
