Israeli Soldier Killed by Rock-Thrower in Occupied West Bank

Israeli Soldiers had Raided a Village to Arrest 4 Wanted Palestinians

An Israeli soldier was killed in clashes with Palestinian protesters in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, Israeli authorities said.

Palestinian security sources said that clashes had erupted overnight when Israeli forces raided the village. The violence erupted a day before the planned US-Israel talks on plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.

Israeli military said 21-year-old Amit Ben-Yigal died after being hit in the head by a rock thrown from a rooftop in Yabad village as his team withdrew after detaining four wanted Palestinians. Residents of Yabad clashed with the troops, who fired tear gas and rubber bullets.

The Palestinians want the West Bank as part of a future state and deem Israeli settlements there illegal. However, Israel and the United States dispute that view.
