9 Syrian Soldiers Abducted and Killed by Unknown Gunmen

Regime Rebels have Been Targeting Regine Loyalists and Civilians Working for the State

At least nine Syrian policemen were abducted and killed by unknown gunmen in Muzayrib town in Daraa province, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Gunmen are reported to have stormed into a government building in the town and abducted the officers before shooting them dead and abandoning their bodies in a square. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The province was seized back from the rebels by regime forces in 2018. The rebels have since then carried out several attacks targeting loyalists and civilians working for the state.

“Usually, attacks against regime forces target checkpoints or patrols, not government buildings,” the agency said in a statement.
