13 Afghan Soldiers Killed by Taliban Fighters in Paktia Province

Taliban Has Increased Attacks in the Region Despite a Peace Agreement Signed in February


At least 13 Afghan soldiers were allegedly killed in an attack in Zareh district on Friday, provincial councillors Sakhi Lala and Mohammad Amin Dara-e Sufi said.

Afghan security soldiers also killed at least two Taliban members and wounded three others in the country’s southeastern Paktia province.

Taliban fighters are reported to have attacked the soldiers on the outskirts of Gardez, the provincial capital of Paktia.

The armed group has recently increased attacks in a number of northern Afghan provinces, despite an agreement signed with the US in February in Doha.

On Wednesday, the armed group killed at least nine members of local uprising forces in northern Samangan province.
