Man Shoots, Wounds Officers before Barricading Self in Home and Setting it On Fire
A man was arrested in Arizona after he allegedly shot and wounded three officers Monday before he barricaded himself in a home and set it on fire.
Police officers stated that they were on patrol at 1 a.m. when they saw a suspicious man. When one of the officers approached him, he started running before he turned and fired three or four shots. The officer was hit and was rushed to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.
Shortly after 7 a.m., gunshots were heard again about 100 yards from the original incident scene. According to the Chandler Police Department, the second and third officers were searching the area for the suspect when they were wounded. They were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
After several hours, police tried getting into a house where the suspect was, but it caught fire. A person was seen running from the backyard, and he was arrested.
The name of the 35-year-old man, from Chandler, was not immediately released, but officials confirmed that he was known to them.
