Gilberto Aparecido dos Santos, one of Brazil’s most wanted criminal fugitive, has been arrested in Mozambique after more than two decades on the run.
49-year-old Gilberto dos Santos, also known as Fuminho, is accused of running drug trafficking operations for the São Paulo-based First Capital Command (PCC) drug gang. The gang is alleged to have shipped tonnes of cocaine around the world.
Fuminho was arrested in Mozambique’s capital, Maputo, by officers from Interpol, US drug officials and Brazilian federal police.
Officials in Mozambique said Fuminho arrived in the country in mid-March. He was arrested at the Montebelo Indy, a luxury hotel in Maputo, along with two Nigerians.
