UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Out of Intensive Care

Johnson Was Admitted to St Thomas' Hospital on Sunday Night

The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has left intensive care where he had been admitted after his coronavirus symptoms worsened, his office said on Thursday.

Johnson, 55, remains under close observation at St Thomas’ Hospital where he was admitted on Sunday evening with a persistent high temperature and cough. He was transferred to the ICU under the advice of his medical team.

“The prime minister has been moved this evening from intensive care back to the ward, where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery,” an official said in a statement.

However, the government statement did not give any details on when Johnson may be able to resume leadership after handing over control to Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.
