Louisiana Man Fatally Shoots Woman After She Escaped

Louisiana Man Kills Kidnapped Woman after Escape

A Louisiana man was arrested after turning himself in Monday on accusations that he kidnapped and killed a 25-year-old woman, shooting her in the head when she escaped.

Corrie Wallace, 37, was charged with first-degree murder after she killed Ja’Riel Sam, news sources reported.

According to officials, Sam and Wallace were acquaintances. Wallace went to Sam’s apartment early Sunday where an argument started between them. Wallace put Sam in the trunk of her car and drove off, leaving her 4-year-old in the apartment alone.

Sam was able to open the trunk, and she jumped out. She then ran off with her knees, legs and elbows injured. But Wallace jumped out of the moving vehicle and caught up to her, later fatally shooting her in the head. The car hit a guardrail and Wallace left.

Police officers responding to a car crash about 3:30 a.m. Sunday found Sam lying dead. They also found her son lying in her bed, traumatized after they went to her home.
