Coronavirus Patients Mistakenly Spend Night on Navy Hospital Ship

COVID-19 Patients Spend Night on Hospital Ship Meant for Non-infected New York Patients

Several coronavirus patients were moved to the hospital ship Comfort from the Javits Center in New York by mistake.

The number of patients transferred to the ship was about less than five and were brought on board Friday night. At the time the patients were transferred to the hospital ship, the initial screening did not indicate that they were positive.

The top general leading the COVID-19 response for the US military said there was another coronavirus patient who was delivered to the hospital ship Comfort in New York by ambulance Saturday. The patient was later confirmed positive on board while in isolation.

The Javits Center had been converted into a temporary hospital for treatment of coronavirus patients amid the outbreak. Meanwhile, Comfort was supposed to receive patients who did not have the virus to relieve stress on the hospitals in the city.

New York City hospital leaders, however, criticized Comfort’s deployment not serious for not allowing in COVID-19 patients and failing to offer tangible relief to the strained hospitals.
