COVID-19 Kills Elderly Illinois Couple Hours Apart in Hospital

An 88-year-old man and his wife perished hours apart in Illinois hospital after contracting the new coronavirus.

Feliks Ogorodnik and his 84-year-old wife, Luiza Ogorodnik, were described as immigrants from Ukraine who both moved to the US more than 20 years ago and later became US Citizens.

A local news source reported that the couple died from COVID-19 Saturday at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview in less than five hours.

The two were the first husband and wife coronavirus victims in the state of Illinois.

Luiza Ogorodnik was a physician in Ukraine while Feliks worked as a manager for a Ukraine construction company. The couple had a home in Skokie, Illinois.

Medical officials stated that underlying medical conditions were what contributed to their deaths.

More than 5,000 people had tested positive for coronavirus and 73 deaths had been reported in Illinois.
