China Bans Entry of All Foreign Visitors to Curb Spread of Covid-19

China Recorded a Surge in Number of Infected People Arriving into the Country

China has banned the entry of all foreigners in an effort to combat the spread of coronavirus. All non-nationals with valid visas and residence permits will also be prohibited from entering the country.

The Chinese foreign ministry said the ban, which came into effect on Friday, is aimed at reducing the numbers of imported coronavirus cases. The ministry said it would also reduce the number of international flights and limit the carrying capacity to 75%.

The announcement comes shortly after China announced a drastic drop in the number of new cases. However, a surge in the number of infected people arriving from overseas was recorded.
