23 Inmates Killed in Columbia Prison Riots

The Riots were Triggered by Panic over The Spread of Coronavirus

At least 23 people were killed after a riot broke out at a prison in a prison in Columbia’s capital, Bogota, on Sunday.

The riot was triggered by fears that the contagious coronavirus could be spreading within the prison.

Inmates protested against overcrowding and poor health services. However, the government dismissed the accusations and described the incident as an attempt to escape.
