Oregon State Reports First Coronavirus Death


70-year-old Man Dies from Novel Coronavirus in Oregon

The first novel coronavirus death has been reported in Portland, Oregon State. A Multnomah County resident perished on Saturday after being diagnosed with the virus, according to the Oregon Health Authority.

The 70-year-old male patient had been hospitalized at the Portland Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center for the COVID-19 symptoms. He tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, March 10. According to health officials, the man had underlying health conditions. The patient, however, had not traveled to a country where the virus was circulating and had no known contact to any confirmed case.

At least thirty-six people have tested positive in Oregon State and on Wednesday, all gatherings of more than 250 people were canceled for the next month.

As of now, more than 60 deaths and over 2,100 cases related to novel coronavirus have been confirmed in the US.
