Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok survived an assassination attempt after his convoy came under attack in the capital, Khartoum.
Mr. Hamdok, who was appointed to lead Sudan’s transitional government in August 2019, later tweeted that he was safe and in good shape.
Hamdok took over leadership from long-time President Omar al-Bashir who was overthrown after months of protests.
The authorities did not immediately establish the motive of the attack. However, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The prime minister said the attack would not stop the road of transition. He said the incident would only serve as “an additional push to the wheel of change in Sudan”.
