7 Injured in Suicide Bombing outside the American Embassy in Tunisia

Ambassador Donald Blome Said All Embassy Staff were Unharmed


Seven people including a policeman were wounded after two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside the United States embassy in Tunisia, local media reported.

The attack happened on Friday at about midday in the Berges du Lac district of the country’s capital Tunis.

According to a statement released by the Interior Ministry the attackers who were on a motorcycle targeted a security patrol in the street leading to the embassy.

The US ambassador to Tunisia, Donald Blome, condemned the attack and confirmed that all embassy staff were safe and accounted for.

Several vehicles near the embassy were damaged in the blast.

The authorities have since cordoned off the area as an investigation into the incident continues.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
