9 People Killed after Fire Broke Out at a Bakery in the Gaza Strip

Authorities Believe the Fire was Caused by a Gas Leak

At least nine people were killed after a fire broke out at a bakery in the occupied Gaza Strip in Palestine on Thursday.

Palestinian authorities said among those killed in the inferno were six children. The health ministry said 60 people were injured in the incident and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

An explosion was heard at the bakery followed by a huge fire that quickly spread to nearby businesses and factories.

Although the cause of the fire is being investigated, Gaza’s interior ministry said the fire might have been caused by a gas leak.

The fire was extinguished about three hours later. Gaza authorities have pledged to offer cash assistance to the victims.
