Top Philippine Police Officers Injured in Helicopter Crash in Manila

The Plane Struck a Power Cable and Crashed during Takeoff


Two top police generals were injured after a helicopter crashed during takeoff in the Philippines on Thursday.

The aircraft, a two-year-old Bell 429, was taking off from a police compound in a rural village in San Pedro city in Laguna province when it struck a power cable and crashed.

The military officers had visited the area for a meeting with local police officials.

General Archie Francisco Gamboa was among seven other people on board the plane at the time of the incident.

Gamboa sustained injuries to his arms and was transported to a Manila hospital for treatment.

According to a police spokesman, the rest of the passengers and crew were in stable condition and were being taken care of by doctors based in Laguna.
