A child died after a makeshift boat capsized off the coast of Lesbos on Monday morning.
Greek port police said the boat was carrying dozens of migrants and refugees when it capsized in the Aegean Sea for unknown reasons.
A small boy was killed in the tragic incident. A second child was hospitalized in unknown condition.
Greece’s coastguard responded to the incident and pulled at least 46 people from the waters.
Greek authorities said at least 1,000 migrants and refugees have arrived at Greece’s Eastern Aegean islands since Sunday morning.
The refugees are trying to find a way across Turkey’s western border with Greece. The migration happened after Turkey opened its borders to migrants and refugees to leave the country for Europe.
