At Least 20 Civilians Killed in Syrian Airstrikes in Idlib Region

Government Forces Recaptured 19 Towns from Rebel Fighters


At least twenty civilians were killed in a series of airstrikes in Syria on Tuesday. According to a report by the UK-based war monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the bombing in Idlib city killed at least nine children and three teachers.

Syrian government forces are relentlessly advancing on the northwestern province of Idlib.

A mother and her two children were killed in an attack in the town of Binnish. A Russian air attack on a shelter for displaced families in Maarat Misrin is reported to have killed 10 civilians including six children.

Government forces recaptured nineteen towns and villages from the rebels in the last two days. The Idlib region has a population of more than three million people.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict that has also displaced more than 11 million others.
