Riverside County Resident Evacuated from Cruise Ship in Japan Tests Positive for Coronavirus
A Riverside County resident who was on board the Diamond Princess, a cruise ship in Japan that was docked under quarantine, has tested positive for coronavirus and is receiving treatment in Northern California, according to health officials.
The Riverside University Health System said the patient remains in good condition and is expected to recover.
Health officials said medical caregivers are monitoring the patient closely and added that there are no exposures so far in Riverside County.
The infected person has not been publicly identified.
The Diamond cruise ship had been on a 14-day cruise with more than 2,600 passengers. It was placed under quarantine last month after some of the passengers tested positive for the virus.
Some Americans who were passengers on the ship were barred from returning home for two weeks.
