7 People Hospitalized after Gun Allegedly Accidentally Goes Off During Family Dance at Mercado Sabadomingo in Houston

Authorities in Houston, Texas, said seven people were hospitalized after a gun allegedly accidentally discharged at a family dance Sunday evening.

The incident occurred at the Mercado Sabadomingo, a flea market by day and dance hall by night. The venue was filled with families and small children at the time of the incident.

According to authorities, the suspect, only identified as a man, told authorities that he had a gun in his pocket when it slipped out and accidentally discharged.

One of the victims was shot directly in the leg as the bullet passed right through their leg. That bullet is believed to have rebounded off of other surfaces in the venue, causing six other people to be hit by shrapnel and debris.

Guns are not allowed inside the venue.

All the victims were to the emergency room as a precaution.
