8 Students Die after Being Swept by Flash Floods in Indonesia

Hundreds of Students were Hiking along the Banks of Sembor River when then they were Hit by Flash Floods


At least eight students died after being swept by flash floods in Indonesia, the authorities reported on Friday.

About 250 students were hiking along the banks of Sembor River in Donokerto village in Sleman when they were hit by the floods.

According to a statement released by the Yogyakarta Search and Rescue Agency, two other students are still missing.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said the group was unaware of the changing weather conditions upstream.

Heavy rains reportedly caused the waters to burst its banks, causing the floods.

Joint forces comprising of the military, and the police have been dispatched to assist in search and rescue.
