At least nine people were shot dead at two shisha lounges in the German city of Hanau on Wednesday evening.
German authorities said the suspect was later found dead at his home. Another body was discovered in the suspect’s home in Hanau’s Kesselstadt district.
Although the motive of the attack was not immediately established, federal prosecutors said there were indications of a right-wing extremist background.
A popular German newspaper reported that that the suspect, who was not publicly identified, expressed right-wing views in a letter of confession he left behind.
A large police contingent was deployed to the area.
