2 Killed after Car on Fisher Island Ferry Fell Off and Plunged into the Waters
Miami-Dade Police Department in Florida said two women died when their car fell off a ferry and plunged into the waters between Miami Beach and Fisher Island.
The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. Tuesday local time.
Authorities said the Fisher Island Ferry was transporting vehicles from the island when a blue 2019 Mercedes Benz occupied by two women went overboard and sunk in Government Cut, a 50-foot-deep manmade shipping channel.
Police said early Wednesday morning that the car and the two deceased women were recovered Tuesday night after divers from the Miami Dade Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Police Department searched the waters.
The United States Coast Guard is conducting a maritime incident investigation, and MDPD is investigating the deaths of the two women.
