Whittier, California (February 17, 2020) – At least one person was injured in a car accident that occurred in Whittier on Sunday afternoon, February 16.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 605 Freeway near Highway 60 at about 12:45 p.m.
Two vehicles were involved in the accident. Although the manner in which the accident happened was not immediately established, one of the vehicles is reported to have caught fire after the accident.
Emergency teams who responded to the incident said the collision resulted in major injuries. The number of injured victims was not immediately established.
The collision blocked at least three lanes of the highway.
The two vehicles were towed away from the scene.
No additional information was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
