5 Children Injured in San Luis Obispo Golf Cart Accident on Heritage Boat Launch Road

San Luis Obispo, California (February 16, 2020) – The authorities have arrested the operator of a golf cart on suspicion of DUI after a collision that left at least five people including several children injured at Heritage Ranch, San Luis Obispo, on Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol said 33-year-old Breana Roinestad of Santa Maria was driving a golf cart eastbound on Heritage Boat Launch Road.

The authorities said a 2018 Chevy Silverado made an unsafe turn in front of the golf cart. The pickup truck reportedly struck the left side of the golf cart causing five unrestrained children who were sitting in the bed of the golf cart to be ejected onto the roadway.

Two children sustained serious injuries and were flown to an area hospital for treatment.

CHP officials said one child suffered moderate injuries while one was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Roinestad was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
