1 Killed in Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident at Chester and 2nd, Torres Dawson Arrested

Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Chester Avenue and 2nd Street in Bakersfield


Bakersfield, California (February 15, 2020) – A man has been arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after a fatal motorcycle accident that happened at an intersection in Bakersfield on Friday night.

The California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision involving a pick-up truck and a motorcycle at Chester Avenue and 2nd Street at about 6 p.m.

The motorcyclist was killed in the accident. His identity was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified only as Torres Dawson, is believed to have been driving under the influence.

Mr. Dawson was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail.

Bakersfield police and the CHP are investigating the cause of the accident.
