Alpine, California (February 14, 2020) – A Florida man died after being hit by a car in Alpine in the Cuyamaca Mountains of San Diego County on Thursday afternoon.
The 24-year-old man was adjusting loose items in the bed of his pickup truck on Interstate 8 Freeway near the West Willows Road exit at about 1:30 p.m. February 13, when he was hit by a Lincoln MKZ sedan.
The California Highway Patrol said the man was injured in the accident and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
The driver of the Lincoln sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
