3 Injured in San Francisco Car Crash at 3rd Street and Mission Street

Suspected DUI Driver Hits and Injures Pedestrians at 3rd Street and Mission Street in San Francisco


San Francisco, California (February 12, 2020) – San Francisco police and fire department officers responded to a major injury car crash that occurred at the intersection of Mission and 23rd Street on Wednesday morning.

San Francisco Fire Department said the accident was reported at about at around 4:20 p.m. February 12

A Toyota Prius was reportedly speeding westbound on 3rd Street was turning onto Mission Street when it hit a pedestrian.

The Prius then struck a Muni bus before striking two passengers who were exiting the bus.

The driver of the Prius fled the scene but returned a short time later and were detained.

The three were victims were injured in the accident and were taken to an area hospital. Two of the patients were listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Prius is suspected to have been driving while under the influence.

The intersection was closed after the accident but was reopened shortly after 10 p.m.

Muni lines were also rerouted.

The SFPD Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TCIU) is investigating the accident.
