2 Injured in Newport Beach Car Crash at Irvine Avenue and Bristol Street


Newport Beach, California (February 13, 2020) – Two people were hospitalized after being injured in a traffic collision involving a UC Irvine student transportation van on Wednesday night.

Newport Beach Police Department said the accident happened at the intersection of Irvine Avenue and Bristol Street at about 10 p.m.

As per the report, a Chevrolet Suburban is believed to have run a red light before crashing into the van.

The driver of the Suburban who was the sole occupant of the vehicle was taken to a trauma center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the van was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the UC Irvine van and his two other passengers were unhurt.

No additional information was provided.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
