Bakersfield, California (February 12, 2020) – A pedestrian on a wheelchair was hit and seriously injured by a vehicle on Tuesday night in Bakersfield.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred at about 7 p.m. at Eucalyptus Drive and Stephen Kelly Lane.

The man in a wheelchair was crossing the street when a vehicle struck him for unknown reasons.

The man suffered serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately disclosed.

As per the CHP report, the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene after the accident.

An investigation into the auto-pedestrian accident is ongoing.
