Pedestrian Struck and Killed by VTA Train on Highway 87 in Santa Clara

Santa Clara, California (February 10, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light-rail train on Monday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Highway 87 and the Curtner station at about 5:45 a.m.

A pedestrian is reported to have been struck by the train for unknown reasons.

The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two lanes of Highway 87 was temporarily closed as the authorities examined the scene.

The collision also resulted in service disruption between the Curtner and Tamien stations. A bus bridge was sent to transport passengers between the two stations.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
