Goleta, California (February 10, 2020) – The authorities have disclosed the identities of two people who died in a hit-and-run crash at an intersection in Goleta on Sunday evening.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as 44-year-old Adolfo Corral Corral and 44-year-old Mary Jane Becerra Corral.
The deadly accident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday 9, at the intersection of Cathedral Oaks and Winchester Canyon roads.
Two vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident. The driver of one of the cars fled the scene after the accident and was spotted traveling westbound on Cathedral Oaks Road.
Deputies responded to the scene, and on arrival, they pronounced Adolfo Corral Corral dead at the scene.
The deputies performed life-saving procedures on Mary Jane Corral until paramedics arrived at the scene.
Mary Jane was taken to the hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
According to a local news source, the suspected hit-and-run driver was located at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, riding in the passenger’s seat of a car in Carpinteria. The car was stopped, and the suspect, identified as Eric Mauricio Ramirez Aguilar, 39, of Goleta, was arrested.
Aguilar was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. The driver of the car was not arrested
No additional information was provided.
The crash is under investigation.
