South Lake Tahoe, California (February 9, 2020) –
Two people were seriously injured in a traffic collision involving a big rig in
South Lake Tahoe on Tuesday 4.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the
accident happened on State Route 88 near Red Lake.
40-year-old Juan Hernandez was driving his 2018 tractor-trailer big rig eastbound on the highway and was rounding a corner when he drifted into the westbound lanes and collided with an oncoming 2016 Honda CR-V.
The driver of the Honda, 81-year-old George Schultz Jr. of
Oakdale, and his passenger identified as 80-year-old Patricia Schultz, were
seriously injured in the accident and were flown to Renown Hospital in Reno for
Hernandez was unhurt.
No additional information was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
