Garbage Truck Driver Injured in Crash at Cherry and Whittram in Fontana

2 Injured in Fontana Car Crash at Cherry Avenue and Whittram Avenue


Fontana, California (February 9, 2020) – A sanitation truck driver was injured in a collision with another vehicle in Fontana on Friday evening.

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 5:06 p.m. February 7, at the intersection of Cherry and Whittram avenues.

A Burrtec Waste garbage truck is reported to have collided with a white Chevy Silverado pickup. One of the vehicles crashed into a traffic light pole after the accident.

San Bernardino County Fire Department said the garbage truck driver was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

The pickup truck driver was also transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.

San Bernardino County Department of Public Works officials arrived at the scene to handle the environmental cleanup of the fuel and oils that were spilled

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
