Mother, 6 Children Killed, Father Hospitalized after Mississippi House Fire


A mother and her six children died when their house caught fire early Saturday morning in Clinton, Mississippi, according to firefighters.

Firefighters responded to the home near the intersection of Old Vicksburg and Hobby Farm roads at about 12:30 a.m., according to Clinton Fire Chief Jeff Blackledge.

The victims included six children and a woman who is believed to be their mother. Their ages range from 1 to 33. The children’s father escaped with injuries after attempting to help his family. He was hospitalized in an unknown condition.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
