Jean Macke Killed, Silun Xie and Xumin Yang Injured in El Dorado County Car Crash on Highway 50


El Dorado County, California (February 8, 2020) – An elderly woman who was killed in a car accident on Thursday evening in El Dorado County has been identified as 89-year-old Jean Macke of Fair Oaks.

 According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at about 6:20 p.m. February 6, on Highway 50 near Fresh Pond.

Macke was driving a 2014 Ford Escape eastbound on the highway.

At the same time, 56-year-old Silun Xie was driving a 2013 Toyota Sienna westbound, with 55-year-old Xumin Yang on board.

The authorities said a Ford made was approaching a slight curve on the roadway when it veered into the westbound lanes and collided with the Toyota.

Macke sustained major injuries and was rushed to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Silun Xie and Xumin Yang suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized.

CHP said it was not immediately clear whether alcohol and drugs were the factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
