Washington High School Principal Resigns amid Outrage over Her Post on FB Concerning Kobe Bryant’s Death

A Washington high school principal has resigned about two weeks after she posted on her private Facebook page, suggesting that Kobe Bryant’s death was deserving.

Dr. Liza Sejkora, principal of Camas High School, resigned Friday.

On the day that Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, and seven others died in a helicopter crash, Sejkora wrote on her Facebook page, “Not gonna lie. Seems to me that karma caught up with a rapist today.”

The post elicited a backlash forcing her to remove it and apologize.

According to a local news source, the former principal later apologized for suggesting that a person’s death was deserved. She said it was inappropriate and tasteless and that her emotions and past experiences led her to make the comment which she now regrets.

In her Facebook comment, Sejkora was referring to sexual allegations brought against Bryant in 2003 that were later dropped when the accuser failed to testify and which Bryant denied.

Her resignation was announced Friday by Camas School District Superintendent Jeff Snell in a press conference.
