AQAP leader al-Rimi Killed in US Operation in Yemen

Al-Rimi Claimed Responsibility for Last Year's US Naval Air Station Attack


US President Donald Trump said Qassim al-Rimi, the leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), on Thursday in Yemen.

Qassim was reportedly killed in an operation conducted by the US forces. However, Al-Qaeda has not yet confirmed his death.

Al-Rimi claimed responsibility for the US Naval Air Station attack, where a Saudi aviation trainee killed three US sailors in Florida.

AQAP has made several terror attempts on the US mainland.

While making the announcement on Thursday, Trump said “We will continue to protect the American people by tracking down and eliminating terrorists who seek to do us harm.
