Escondido, California (February 4, 2020) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a man who was killed in a multi-vehicle collision that injured four other people near Elfin Forest area between Escondido and Rancho Santa Fe on Friday, January 31.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Harmony Grove Road near Wild Willow Hollow Road at about 7:40 a.m.
28-year-old Bernardo Valdez was driving a Subaru WRX westbound on Harmony Grove Road when he collided with a Toyota Prius before crashing into a Toyota Highlander SUV driven 38-year-old Ardeshir Tooraji of Carlsbad.
The impact of the collision caused the SUV to overturn.
The CHP said Mr. Bernardo Valdez was killed in the accident.
Tooraji and his three passengers suffered minor injuries in the accident and were treated at the scene.
The authorities later determined that the Toyota SUV had been reported stolen and Tooraji was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
