13 Students Killed in Stampede at School in Western Kenya

The Police are Investigating the Cause of the Panic that Led to the Stampede


At least thirteen students were killed in a stampede at a school in western Kenya on Monday evening, the authorities said.

Thirty-nine others were injured in the incident and were rushed to area hospitals for treatment.

The authorities said panic broke out at Kakamega Primary School at about 5 p.m. local time as students prepared to leave for home. The cause of the scare was not immediately established.

“We have launched an investigation to establish what exactly happened,” Regional police chief David Kabena said.
