Texas police arrested a 26-year-old mother after they discovered the body of a 7-year-old girl inside her home when they were performing a welfare check.
Authorities said the girl was bedridden due to medical conditions, and they did not know how long she had been deceased for.
Bay City Police officers were doing a welfare check at a residence in the area at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday when they found the deceased.
Two other children, a 5-year-old and a 3-month-old, were in the home, alongside the mother, 26-year-old Lauren Kay Dean.
Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene.
The two other children were removed from the home, and Dean was arrested and booked into Matagorda County Jail.
The suspect was charged with three second degree felony charges, namely; abandonment, endangering a child, and imminent danger of bodily injury.
