Man Killed in Car Accident on Highway 101 in San Jose


San Jose, California (February 2, 2020) – A man was killed in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred in San Jose early Sunday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 101 at about 12:42 a.m.

A 22-year-old Morgan Hill man was reportedly driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander.

The impact of the collision caused the Hyundai to spin and was hit by a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia big rig.

The Hyundai overturned and caught fire.

At some point during the collision, the unidentified driver of Hyundai was ejected from the vehicle and was hit by a 2012 Mazda 3. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other information was provided.                 

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
