An Indian student was wounded after being shot during a protest against the controversial citizenship law in New Delhi.
According to local media reports, a gunman opened fire at the protesting Jamia Millia Islamia university students.
The injured student was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The gunman was arrested outside the university
The students have been protesting against India’s Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which discriminates against Muslims.
The incident comes days after an MP from India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was criticized for allegedly inciting a crown to shoot the protesters.
